Autumn in Great Himalayan National Park

Hiking in Great Himalayan National Park

Autumn arrives quietly in the Great Himalayan National Park, yet leaves behind a blaze of colour and feeling. Every leaf seems to carry its own wee tale as it grows, turns, and finally drifts back to the earth. Crisp evenings nip at the skin, while warm noons invite you to sprawl in open meadows and do nothing at all. Often overlooked, this national park is a treasure for those who take the time to understand it. Just eight hours from Delhi, it offers trails that range from gentle forest wanders to demanding peak climbs, solitary when you seek stillness and welcoming enough for families and young climbers. We were fortunate to walk these paths and witness the magic firsthand. These images remain as vivid as the day they were taken.

Open fields warmed by the midday sun, where time slackens its grip and you lie back, listening to the hush of the mountains and the distant call of birds.
A narrow trail winding through ancient trees, quiet and patient rivers ostensibly monsoon, inviting slow steps and softer thoughts as sunlight filters through thinning canopies.
A forest dressed in autumn finery, where gold, rust, and amber leaves whisper underfoot, and the air smells of pine, damp earth, and the promise of winter not yet arrived.
Emerald moss and wild mushrooms breathing life into the shaded corners of the forest.
Once roaring, now softened, the waterfall fades into a quiet murmur of moss and mist, inviting you to pause and think.
